Provision of legal expertise and advice; contributing to develop the body of international law; arbitration to settle disputes

Capacity building and training

Organizing training courses and managing educational programmes; cooperation with and support to Member States, partner organizations and communities in building competences and provision of training

Coordination and mediation

Creating conditions allowing each actor to contribute to the overall efforts and favouring synergies; bringing together relevant actors to ensure a coherent and adequate response and sensible use of available resources; facilitating communication between parties and finding consensus

Policy formulation

Making informed recommendations to influence policies, participating in policy-making processes and contributing to development of effective, equitable and acceptable courses of action

Outreach, advocacy and communication

Reaching out to targeted audiences through events and programmes; speaking, writing and rallying supporters in favour of a particular cause or policy; dissemination of information in print, online and through campaigns

Data analysis, harmonization and statistics

Reviewing, cleaning, transforming and modelling data, combining data sources, and producing statistics and datasets with the goal of discovering useful information, suggesting conclusions, and supporting decision-making

Developing and managing programmes, projects and operations as part of emergency response as well as long-term development, to prevent, protect, assist, improve the well-being of beneficiaries and communities and react to needs directly arising out of specific contexts
